What is lead capture?
Lead capture is collecting a prospect's contact details, plus the context of the conversation, so you can follow up and turn the contact into a customer. At a trade show it happens at the stand, in seconds, between conversations.

What does lead capture include?
Lead capture includes three things: who the person is, what you talked about, and how interested they are. A name and an email without the context is a cold contact; with the context it is a lead your team can act on the next day.
- Identity: name, company, title, email, phone, country.
- Context: the product they asked about, quantities, timing, the problem they mentioned.
- Priority: hot, warm or cold, and who should follow up.
How do you capture leads at a trade show?
- 01
Scan the badge or the card
One photo gives you the contact details. Cards often carry more than badges: a direct line, a website, a WeChat ID.
- 02
Record the context straight away
A ten-second voice note while the visitor walks away beats any memory at the end of the day.
- 03
Rate the lead
Hot, warm or cold. It decides who gets the first follow-up email.
- 04
Send it where your team works
A shared spreadsheet or your CRM, the same day, not a box of cards in the office a week later.
Why do trade show leads go cold?
Trade show leads go cold because the follow-up comes too late or says nothing specific. By the end of a three-day show the faces have blurred, the notes are on the back of cards, and the sales team starts typing them up after the flight home.
The fix is to capture the context at the stand and have the follow-up drafted while the show is still on.
Capture at the stand. Never 'the stack for later'.
What should you look for in a lead capture app?
- Reads business cards and badges, including non-Latin scripts.
- Takes voice notes and attaches them to the right contact.
- Works without installing something new on the show floor.
- Exports to a spreadsheet or CRM you already use, and leaves the data with you.
- Helps you write the follow-up, not just store the contact.
How does DaGaMa do lead capture?
DaGaMa's BoothBot works inside WhatsApp, Telegram and WeChat. Photograph a card or badge, say a few words about the conversation, and the lead lands in a Google Sheet shared with you, ready for a follow-up draft when you ask. Buyers do the same for suppliers with SourceBot.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between lead capture and lead generation?
Lead generation brings potential customers to you, for example by exhibiting at a show. Lead capture is the moment you record their details and context so you can follow up.
Is a business card scanner a lead capture tool?
Yes, if it does more than store the card. A lead capture tool also keeps the conversation context and the lead's priority, and puts it where your sales team works.
Can I capture leads without installing a new app?
Yes. DaGaMa works inside WhatsApp, Telegram or WeChat, so there is nothing new to install: you send a photo to a chat. An Android app is available if you want offline capture, but it is optional.
