First-timer's guide · Jul 20–24, 2026 · Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre

Working Farnborough International Airshow 2026 for the first time.

1,274 exhibitors, 100,000 attendees, and a rhythm you only learn by working it. Here's what matters — for the booth side and the buying side — plus the Farnborough, Hampshire logistics nobody puts in the brochure.

New exhibitor tips

01

The chalet is the deal room — the stand is the shopfront

Farnborough business culture runs on hospitality: chalets and meeting rooms are where delegations, airlines and primes take their meetings. If you exhibit from a hall stand, book meeting space early and drive appointments to it — aisle traffic alone does not close aerospace deals.

02

Work the delegations programme

Government and military delegations move through on organised schedules, with a UK Government Hub anchoring the official visits. Getting on a delegation's route is a pre-show lobbying exercise — start with your national pavilion organiser months out.

03

National pavilions lower the entry bar

If a full stand is out of budget, international pavilions group smaller suppliers under a country flag with shared infrastructure — and delegations visit pavilions systematically.

04

Plan around the flying display

When the flying display is on, eyes go to the sky and meetings pause. Schedule deep conversations in chalets and meeting rooms during display windows, and use the halls before and after.

05

Aerospace lead time is the point

Contacts made this week price into programmes years out — the show itself runs bi-annually. Capture every badge and conversation completely; the follow-up cycle here is measured in quarters, and a half-recorded contact is worthless in month three.

New visitor tips

01

Buy the right ticket for the right days

Monday to Friday is trade; Friday is also the public "Pioneers of Tomorrow" day. Multi-day trade passes are valid on any days within the week — no need to pick days in advance. Tickets are non-refundable, and the box office does not take American Express.

02

Arrive like it's an airport

Security is airport-style: bag screening, scanners, and random photo-ID checks for anyone 16 and over. Build the queue into your first-meeting time and carry ID every day.

03

Friday is a different show

The public day changes the floor completely — families, students, and packed viewing lines. Do your serious supplier meetings Monday to Thursday and keep Friday for the flying display and casual walks.

04

Food strategy matters on an airfield

Every hall has a café and there are outdoor food courts, but you may bring your own food — no alcohol, no sharp items, both confiscated at the gate. Free water stations are marked on the map; refill, because July on tarmac is hot.

05

The show runs whatever the weather

Rain does not stop the show and the halls are fully covered; only the flying display gets amended in bad conditions. There is no reserved seating or grandstand — claim viewing spots early on display days.

06

Leave the drone at home

Drones are strictly prohibited, and anything you film is for private use only — commercial recording rights sit with the organiser.

How the days flow

  • —Monday–Tuesday: delegation and prime-contractor days — the biggest announcements and order signings front-load the week.
  • —Wednesday–Thursday: the working trade days; supplier meetings, pavilion walks, and the summits programme.
  • —Friday: public day — flying display crowds, families, and a floor that has mentally moved to next steps. Wrap trade business by Thursday night.

Farnborough, Hampshire logistics

Getting there

The show is on Farnborough airfield, Hampshire — about an hour southwest of London. Rail to Farnborough Main then shuttle or taxi is the standard route; driving means pre-booked parking and airfield traffic patterns.

Where to stay

Farnborough itself sells out first; Guildford, Woking and the M3 corridor are the practical alternatives, and many trade visitors commute from London by train.

On site

Exhibition halls are covered and connected to outdoor static displays. Catering maps live in the Show App; free drinking-water stations are signposted throughout.

The tip every guide agrees on

Capture at the booth. Never "the stack for later."
