First-timer's guide · Sep 4–8, 2026 · Messe Berlin

Working IFA 2026 for the first time.

1,800 exhibitors, 245,000 attendees, and a rhythm you only learn by working it. Here's what matters — for the booth side and the buying side — plus the Berlin logistics nobody puts in the brochure.

If you're exhibiting

New exhibitor tips

01

Decide which IFA you are exhibiting at

IFA is several shows on one ground: the main halls for finished consumer tech, IFA Next for startups, and IFA Global Markets as the dedicated OEM/ODM sourcing hub. Global Markets buyers want factories and private-label capability; main-hall visitors want brands. Booking the wrong one wastes the week.

02

Two-thirds of your buyers are not German

Visitors come from 140 countries and 67% of retailers are international. Staff for language coverage and have export terms, certifications and shipping answers ready — the conversation goes to Incoterms and market authorisations faster here than at a domestic show.

03

The app is the meeting engine

Tens of thousands of meetings get booked through the IFA App before the doors open. Publish a complete exhibitor profile early and accept meeting requests — waiting for aisle traffic in halls this size is how small stands lose the week.

04

Time your launch to the press days

IFA is a product-launch stage with 270 speakers across 125 sessions and a full press programme. Coordinate any announcement with Media Days and ShowStoppers rather than dropping it mid-show, when journalists have already filed.

05

Five days is a stamina problem

The show runs Friday to Tuesday. Rotate staff, and capture every conversation the moment it happens — by day four nobody reconstructs a Saturday conversation accurately.

New visitor tips

01

Buy the right ticket length in advance

Trade tickets come as one-day (€65), two-day (€99.99) or full five-day access (€138), all with identical benefits — only duration differs. Advance booking saves up to 18% on the on-site price.

02

Your ticket includes Global Markets — use it

Every trade ticket covers IFA, IFA Next and IFA Global Markets. If you are sourcing rather than shopping brands, Global Markets is the OEM/ODM floor and the reason the trip pays for itself.

03

Book travel through the official partners

EventBeds is the official accommodation partner with rates up to 30% off; Deutsche Bahn event fares start around €16 and Lufthansa Group offers discounted flights valid a week either side of the show.

04

Messe Berlin has several entrances — pick yours

S-Bahn S41, S42 and S46 stop at Messe Nord/ICC; S3 and S9 reach Messe Süd or Westkreuz; U2 to Kaiserdamm or Theodor-Heuss-Platz is a short walk. Choosing the entrance nearest your halls saves 20 minutes each way.

05

Capture specs, not impressions

With 1,900+ exhibitors across 49 countries, by day two the product names blur. Photograph the product with the stand number and voice-note the MOQ, price break and lead time on the spot.

How the days flow

  • —Opening days: press, keynotes and launches — the highest-energy days and the hardest for unscheduled meetings.
  • —Middle days: the working trade days; Global Markets sourcing conversations and retailer meetings run deepest here.
  • —Final days: quieter halls, better access to senior people at big stands, and the best time for pricing conversations before teardown.

Berlin logistics

Getting there

Messe Berlin, in the west of the city. S-Bahn S41/S42/S46 to Messe Nord/ICC, S3/S9 to Messe Süd or Westkreuz, U2 to Kaiserdamm. Bus lines X34, X49, M49, 104, 139, 218 and 349 all serve the ground. Car parking is limited; bike and e-scooter racks sit near every entrance.

Hotels

EventBeds holds the official block with event-exclusive rates and flexible cancellation, including group support for ten rooms or more. Berlin fills fast in early September — book before the summer.

On the ground

Use the venue map before you arrive; Messe Berlin is large enough that hall-hopping without a plan costs hours. The Sommergarten is the natural meeting point when a plan falls apart.

The tip every guide agrees on

Capture at the booth. Never "the stack for later."
